PLC Showcase

1. We found the displays interesting.  Many of the ideas could be incorporated  into our classrooms.
2.  We learned some methods for incorporating technology into our classroom work.  We learned to communicate through blogging.  We experimented with different forms of technology .
3.  Hopefully, it has encouraged  us to take risks with new methods of instructions.

PLC Showcase

At the end of our semester of work, all PLCs will be showcasing their work at the Wyandotte High School PLC Showcase on Wednesday, December 12th in the Social Hall.  The showcase will be a public demonstration of our learning, collaboration, and results.  Each PLC will showcase work that reflects how your learning and collaboration has impacted student learning.  Each PLC is encouraged to be creative and innovative in their demonstration (student examples would be highly encouraged); however, please be sure the following are addressed through your presentation -
    PLC Focus
Collaborative Actions
Summary of PLC Learning
Impact on Student Learning
Connections to Future Teaching and Learning
In addition, all staff will have an opportunity to visit each demonstration during the Showcase.  Many outside guests will also be in attendance.

If your PLC requires any kind of additional resources, please submit any requests for those materials via the comment section to this blog entry by NOVEMBER 9th. You will receive these materials by or before your November 28th meeting, so you will have AT LEAST two weeks to work on organizing your demonstration.

Today our PLC is currently in the process of deciding our presentation for the upcoming showcase. Our challenge is to narrow down our ideas.
Today I learned how to read the overview page from a fellow blogger. It's interesting to view our blogging statistics. Each PLC is a new learning experience.
What can we do as a group to demonstrate what we have learned so far? Are you very creative?
We are further considering how we might present the information on the various technologies that members of our group are utilizing.  I have been pleased with the students' reception to my use of the IXL math program.  They seem to enjoy the practice and learning they are experiencing.  I especially like the program because skills are broken down by grade level and very well outlined with quick examples of the skills described.  The program offers immediate feedback to their responses.  If a problem is answered incorrectly,  there is an explanation of how to do the problem correctly.  I find this extremely helpful.
I made arragements with Katie to help me set up a form for my students to take a quiz.

I"ve been working to improve communication with student through the School Loop Locker.  This will insure that students and I will be using technology to communicate with each other regarding class work and/or assignments.
1.  Our focus is improving the use of technology in the classroom.
2. We brained ideas for using different technologies with students in the classroom.
3. We have been exploring blogs, IXL Math programs, Auto cab. 13, use of School Loop Locker, use of gmail Forum,  and Powerpoint presentations.
4. We hope to improve academic success through technology.
5. We want students to be proficient in technology.

I'm getting good , We are discussing PLC showcase. You tube ????? Maybe Achieve 3000.
Is blogging a necessary evil?  I can see how it can be helpful.  Being fluent in the programs we use such as school loop should be achieved first.  I have a great need to become more fluent in the technological methods of communication with each of my classes.  Blogging is blogging and can be achieved with other programs and just not limited to a blogging specific software.  The most important aspect of blogging is using the technology we have available to communicate with our students
We are  brainstorming ideas for Wed. Dec. 12.  I would like to set up a blog to showcase student artwork.  I have created a blog called "Wyandotte Art Creations".   I still need to learn to import pictures of student work and learn how to invite others to view the work.
Our PLC challenge today is to decide what we are going to showcase on Wednesday, December12th in the Social Hall.
Today we are discussing how we might organize our individual and group efforts into a presentation for December 12th.

Questions before the group:
1. What do we want each student to learn?
We want each student to be able to use blogging to impact their learning.
2. How will we assess their learning?
     Observe student blogs.
3.  How will we respond when students have trouble?
Refer to the Google Video for help.
Our group is having so much fun blogging to each other.
Every week is new and exciting during our PLC. It's great how eager we are to help each other. We are a work in progress.
Today we are further exploring the world of Modern Software Packages.  My time with the group will be cut a little short today because the Special Education Department has a Webinar about our computerized IEP system Webkidss.
I enjoy blogging but I am still learning. It is hard to remember things from one week to the next.
Today has been interesting.  Some students said they did not understand the Code Red.  One even tried to walk out to go to the counselor for a scheduled appointment.  Another was worried about his appointment.  I had to reassure them their appointments would happen after the code red was canceled.

I'm learning how to create a form, so I can get feed back at the end of my classes.
I'm still learning to navigate my way around the Blogger web.  I'm learning a little more each week.
I enjoy the time we spend together in our PLC working to improve our technology skills in an effort to impact student learning. Every week is a new exciting learning experience.
Modern Software packages:

1. We are still exploring blogging to try to become proficient.
2. Eventually, we want to be able to help students use blogging as an educational tool.
3.We want to continue to individually become more adapt in our technology skills.
I'm still learning to navigate the Blogger webpage.  I'm finding out more about how to use this each week.  Ultimately, this information will be shared with students so that they may use it to exchange information with other students and me.
We are still playing with blogging to get more proficient so we can use it in the classroom to benefit students.
Trying to find my way around this maze of electronic communication.  I would whole heartedly embrace it if I could take it to heaven with me.

wonders never cease

Miracles!!!!  This is my first time doing this.  Somehow I got to this point.  Hopefully I can remember this.
 I 'm still playing with it :)

Here we are hard at work blogging to improve student performance!!!!!

I was actually able to help three people in our PLC. I still feel like we are the blind leading the blind, but we will continue to try to help each other as much as possible!!
In our PLC today, we continued our work on familiarizing ourselves with blogging procedures.

I would like to learn to post photos on my blog.  To post a picture, click on the little landscape picture, click on file, then add selected.

In our PLC we will try to use websites to help students learn how to blog.
Students use of various websites  can create interest in blogging.
In our PLC we will share our ideas through blogging.
We can measure results by students successfully blogging, after we are comfortable enough with blogging .
I'm blogging !!!!

This is a lot of fun.

In my English class we are doing 180 curriculum and Achieve 3000 Reading. The students enjoy doing both Achieve 3000   with a computer and 180 where there is a lot of writing paragraphs with details. STATE ASSESSMENTS.

My challenge at this moment is finding the time to communicate. I'll be able to do this during school when wiring for the internet gets straightened out in my area.

1. Orientation to blogging.
2.

learning to blog

Orientation to blogging went well.
Blogging is fun but it's hard.I'm excited about using technology in my class.I'm thrilled to be able to make my first post.We try to help each other as much as possible in our PLC, even though  at times I feel like it's the blind leading the blind.Over the next week we will practice blogging. The practice that we do in our PLC will prepare us for any problems are students may encounter. We will measure the impact of this week's work by responding to blogs by our PLC members.
I have never blogged before.
